Construction Codes

The Construction Codes Division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of all building and licensed trade work done in the Town of Collierville. The Town has adopted the 2003 International Code Council family of codes in January, 2008.

The 2003 ICC family of codes includes:

  • International Residential Code
  • International Building Code
  • International Mechanical Code
  • International Fuel Gas Code
  • International Plumbing Code
  • 2002 National Electrical Code

The purpose of the Construction Codes Division is to ensure that all new construction and trade (i.e. mechanical, plumbing, electrical) replacements and additions on existing structures complies with the life safety standards outlined in the adopted codes. This task is accomplished by a thorough plans review, issuing permits by trade, ensuring that all contractors are licensed, and making field inspections of all permitted work.

All construction code inspectors are certified in their specific trade by the International Code Council and regularly attend continuing education classes related to new building techniques, code updates, cross training in other trades, and life safety issues.

The mission of the Construction Codes Division is to provide quality customer service for the residents and businesses of the Town of Collierville.

This mission includes:

  • Making timely inspections
  • Enforcing the adopted code
  • Educating contractors of proper building practices
  • Keeping residents informed
The Construction Codes Division is dedicated to upholding the adopted codes in order to protect the citizens and businesses of the Town of Collierville, and to provide a safe living and work environment for its citizens.
