Electrical Codes

The Town of Collierville officially adopted the 2008 National Electrical Code, 2012 International Residential Code and the 2012 International Building Code on March 1, 2012.

The purpose of the 2008 National Electrical Code is the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity. This Code contains provisions that are considered necessary for safety. Compliance therewith and proper maintenance will result in an installation that is essentially free from hazard but not necessarily efficient, convenient, or adequate for good service or future expansion of electrical use. This 2008 edition is compatible with the International Codes (I-Codes) published by the International Code Council (ICC), including the "International Building Code, 2008 National Electrical Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Existing Building Code, International Fire Code, International Mechanical Cod, International Fuel Gas Code, ICC Performance Code, International Plumbing Code, International Private Sewage Disposal Code, International Property Maintenance Code, International Residential Code, International Wildland-Urban Interface Code and International Zoning Code." -Purpose to the 2008 National Electrical Code.
