Adequate Parking

When a new occupant moves into an existing building, or when an existing building is converted to a new use (house to an office, warehouse to retail or a church, etc.), businesses should consider whether the site has adequate parking for their specific use. §151.115 to §151.117 of the Zoning Ordinance contain the Town's parking regulations. The Planning Division will consider adequacy of parking as part of its zoning review. In most cases, non residential sites have adequate parking for changes in occupancy; however, sometimes sites are grossly deficient in parking for a change in use (e.g. offce space to a restaurant). New parking spaces added to a site may require a site plan application, and landscape screening, parking lot lighting, and maximum impervious ratios will likely apply. Contact the Planning Division with questions in regards to adequate parking.
