Hannah Jones is retiring. She’s starting college at University of Tennessee Martin in the fall, but she’s also retiring from a role she has thoroughly enjoyed for the last few years – Team Leader of the editorial team for T.A.B Magazine.
T.A.B. Magazine is the publication of the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) at the Collierville Burch Library. Jones (pictured) has been a member of TAB since the eighth grade, and now she is a rising college freshman.
The responsibilities she’s had as a member of the board and as Team Leader on the magazine have given her a good preview of things to come and an education on how to deal with them.
“Through TAB I have created the T.A.B. Magazine and led the team; run our Instagram for teens; established and led our teen book club, and planned events,” said Jones. “Being able to create and lead these different groups and platforms has helped me grow as an individual in leadership, self-management and self-confidence.”
The Teen Advisory Board works with the Young Adult Library Associate to keep the library informed about books they would like to read and what kind of events they think would appeal to teens. There are 16 spots for teens in grades 6-12 available on the board. Anyone who is interested must apply on the library’s website or in person at the library by August 1. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30-5:30. The meeting place is the Halle Room, unless otherwise noted.
Jones said she will miss TAB activities, like creating book displays for the teen section in the library, planning and leading events, and just being with like-minded people – young adults who love recreational reading!
