Meetings: Town Hall Chambers (500 Poplar View Parkway) on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are usually "at call."

This board was formed in 1983, through passage of Ordinance 83-003. The Beer Board has the power and is directed to regulate the sale, storage for sale, distribution for sale and manufacture of beer within the municipality in accordance with the Beer Ordinance. The board has broad powers of investigation and has the authority to inspect the premises of any applicant or permit holder.

Archived Minutes -     2008-2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

The purpose of this board is to hear appeals on any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by any Town official charged with enforcing the Zoning Ordinance of the Town Code. The Board of Zoning Appeals also hears requests for variances and conditional use permits. This 5 member board serves for one calendar year with terms expiring Dec. 31 of each year (Ordinance 2001-05). Meetings are at the call of the chairman with five days of notice. The Mayor has appointment authority, with confirmation required by the aldermen.

To hear appeals of decisions and interpretations of the building official and consider variances of the codes.

Environmental Commission

Meetings: Public Services Building (500 Keough Road) at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Meeting agendas are linked from dates below as they become available.

Purpose: To advise the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and administration on environmental issues and to provide the residents of Collierville with opportunities to improve the quality of their environment, support the benefits and necessity of our natural resources, and provide environmental education to the public. This commission was created in 2000 and has eight members. Term appointments are for one year, ending Dec. 31 of each calendar year. The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, have appointment authority for this commission.

The Collierville Heritage Commission serves as the Town's authority on matters regarding the Town's history. The Commission conducts research and collects information in the form of stories and documents regarding the history of the Town and its people. The Commission strives to document the history of the Town and promotes the relevance and importance of its history. The mission of the Collierville Heritage Commission is to preserve, interpret and impart knowledge of the history of the Town of Collierville and to foster an appreciation of its historic significance. The Commission also serves as an advisory body for the Morton Museum of Collierville History, conducting fundraising activities and evaluating objects for inclusion into the Museum's collection.

It is the duty of the Historic District Commission to preserve historic and/or architectural value; enhance the Town's historic attractions to tourists; consider the appropriateness of any new alteration, additions, demolition or exterior changes visible to public right-of-way and compatibility to design with the Historic District (including signs); and to approve or deny certificates of appropriateness on a case-by-case basis. Seven members comprise this commission. They serve five-year terms. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm in Town Hall chambers, 500 Poplar View Parkway.

Industrial Development Board

Meetings:  The IDB meets quarterly in the Town Hall, located at 500 Poplar View Parkway, in addition to special called meetings.

The purpose of this board is to acquire, own, lease and dispose of properties to the end of promoting industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial, government, educational and commercial enterprises to locate or remain in this State (Town) and to further the use of its agricultural products and natural resources. A 9-member board serving staggered 6-year terms (Resolution 2003-03). The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment authority.

Meetings: Meetings are "at call" on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm in the Town Hall Chambers (Town Hall, 500 Poplar View Parkway).

The purpose of this board is to direct all the affairs of the Library, including, without limitation: appointing a librarian who shall direct the internal affairs of the Library and the appointment of such assistants or employees as may be necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the Library; accepting donations, devises, and bequests to be used by it directly for library purposes; recommending to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen the rules and regulations applicable to the operation of the Library; and shall generally have all necessary power and authority to manage such Library.

Archived Minutes - 2011-2012

This Board shall consist of 7 members, with three of the initially appointed members serving for 1 year, two for 2 years and two for 3 years; at the completion of such initial terms, their successors shall serve for terms of 3 years. Election of officers held annually. This Board was established by Resolution 2004-36 on July 12, 2004. The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment authority.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The purpose of the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Advisory Board is to provide representation for the citizens of the Town of Collierville in partnership with the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in promoting understanding, appreciation, participation and support for open spaces, parks, recreational opportunities, cultural activities, programs and facilities.

Note: this Board was formed April, 1984, and consists of 9 members serving a term of one calendar year with terms expiring December 31st of each year (Resolution 99-53). Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Park & Recreation Conference Room - 440 W. Powell Rd.

The Board of Aldermen, jointly with the Mayor, has appointment authority for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.

Special Requirements: Members must be Collierville residents. Members cannot be Town employees. Parks Board chooses own Chairman.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board / Agenda & Minutes

Pension and OPEB Committees

Meetings: The Pension Committee meets quarterly in the Town Hall, 500 Poplar View Parkway, on the 2nd Thursday of February, May, August and November.

The Pension Committee is a 5-member committee. Members should be experienced either in the financial services industry or managing defined benefit pension plans. Two members will be the Finance Director and the Town Administrator or his designee. The remaining three appointments serve staggered three-year terms. One of the members shall be a member of the BMA and the other two members shall be citizen volunteers. At the end of the initial terms, all appointments will be for a period of 3 years.

There are nine members who serve one-year terms which expire December 31 of each year (Ordinance 2001-05). The Mayor has sole appointment authority.   Tennessee Code Annotated 8-50-501 requires disclosure statements of conflict of interests for certain public officials, including Planning Commissioners.  These statements are public records and are available upon request.

Tourism Advisory Commission

Meetings:  Community Center (440 W. Powell Road) at 4pm quarterly on the 4th Tuesday.

The Purpose of this commission is to serve in an advisory role on matters regarding the enhancement of the effectiveness of the Town of Collierville's tourism strategies and initiatives. Membership shall consist of 7 members who are residents of the Town and/or represent the hotel and lodging industry, retail businesses, restaurants and attraction/event professionals in the Town. One of the commission members shall be a representative from the BMA. In addition to those members, the Mayor may appoint up to 5 Ex-officio members. Members of the Commission may serve concurrently on any other Town Board or Commission. Term of membership shall be for one year.

Town Beautiful Commission

Meetings: Community Center (440 W. Powell Road) at 6pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Meeting agendas are linked from dates below as they become available.

The purpose of this commission is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the community; to advise the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and Planning Commission on matters affecting the aesthetic and natural beauty within the community. The current by-laws of the Town Beautiful Commission provides for up to 15 active members. The term of apointments shall be for 1 year, ending December 31st of each calendar year (Ordinance 99-29).
