Currently, the Collierville Park System has 11 regional or neighborhood parks with 300 acres of parkland, 25 athletic fields, 6 miles of existing Greenbelt trails, a community center and theater. The department has more than 100,000 participants in its programs each year.

Greenbelt System

The Collierville Greenbelt System is operated and maintained by the Town of Collierville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. The Greenbelt system is designed for the construction of over 60 miles of trails and sidewalks connecting parks, schools, neighborhoods, and commercial districts. The town currently manages over 4-1/2 miles of trails within the corporate limits. Designed to enhance the natural beauty of the town, the trails run along laterals of the famous Wolf River, preserving natural vegetation and providing protected wildlife habitats. Whether you are a biker, walker, runner, or simply enjoy strolling your child outdoors, the Greenbelt is within easy access for many Collierville residents.

Construction of the new Greenbelt Trail is underway and will run along Hwy 385 and north behind FedEx World Tech Center to Winchester Boulevard. It will be a 12' regional trail.

H. W. Cox Jr. Park

Located at 350 W. Powell Road, H. W. Cox Jr. Park is the centerpiece of the Collierville Park System and includes the Collierville Community Center and the Harrell Performing Arts Theatre. This 60- acre park is the site of a four (4) field baseball/softball complex with concessions, four (4) outdoor tennis courts, two (2) playgrounds, picnic pavilion, one-mile walking trail, and five (5) multi-purpose athletic fields with concessions. H.W. Cox Jr. Park is the host of several major special events each year including the Collierville Independence Day Celebration, Business Expo, and the Collierville Antique Show and Sale.

The Collierville Community Center accommodates over 50,000 participants each year and includes five (5) meeting rooms that available for rentals, a kitchen, two racquetball courts, a cardiovascular fitness area, and a gymnasium. Recreation classes covering a wide spectrum of interests are conducted at the center. The Harrell Performing Arts Theatre is a 352-seat theatre with a state-of-the-art sound system.

W.C. Johnson Park

Located at Wolf Ridge Drive and Johnson Park Drive this 135-acre park is unique to the Collierville Park System because of its proximity to the Wolf River Corridor and its 75-acres of undisturbed wetland areas that is the home of the Peterson Lake Nature Center.

The 60-acres that are currently developed include a five (5) field baseball/softball complex with concessions, two lighted multipurpose athletic fields, two lakes, playground, gazebo, bike racks, 3/4 mile walking trail, and a major connection with the Collierville Greenbelt System. W.C. Johnson Park has hosted two National Baseball World Series and numerous district, state, and regional athletic events.

Peterson Lake Nature Center and Boardwalk

Phase I of the Nature Center opened this past spring and includes a 1,500 linear foot of elevated boardwalk and observation area overlooking Peterson Lake. With the addition of the nature facility and boardwalks, this park will fill a special void within the town limits and harbor a sanctuary for the natural environment near the Wolf River and around the 5.5-acre Peterson Lake.

Suggs Park

A 13-acre semi-wooded park located on South Street east of Center Street which includes two lighted baseball/softball fields, open green space areas, restroom facilities, pavilion, playground, and picnic areas.

Confederate Park

Located in the heart of the Historic Town Square District, the park is the trademark of the Town. The Square features turn of the century walkways, cast iron fences, an antiqued-styled clock, and a charming bandstand. The office of Main Street Collierville resides in the depot adjacent to the park.

Nikki McCray Park

Located south of Highway 72 on Harris Park Road, the park consists of two soccer fields, pavilion, two basketball courts, baseball/softball practice fields, playground, and a 1/2-mile walking track.

Frank Road Tennis Courts

Located on Frank Road, the two, lighted courts are available for year-round usage.

Estanaula Park

Located on Estanaula Trails on Byhalia Road in south Collierville, this 9-acre neighborhood park consists of a lake and connection with the Collierville Greenbelt System. Set to come on-line in Fall 2000, future development includes a play structure, walking trail, and pavilion.

Steeplechase Park

Located on Grand Steeple Drive, the 25-acre park came into the park system in Fall 1999. The neighborhood consists of two lakes, a 1/2 mile section of the Collierville Greenbelt System, and a play structure.

Planter's Ridge Park

One of three new neighborhood parks to come into the parks system in 1999, this 9-acre park is located on Collierville-Arlington Road and includes a walking trail.

Oakmont Park

Located on Surry Oaks Drive, this 2-acre neighborhood park includes a small pond, play structure, and connection to the Collierville Greenbelt System.

Tara Oaks Park

Located on Gable Lane Drive, this 12.5-acre open space is currently undeveloped.

Progress Road Park

Located in east Collierville on Progress Road, this 5-acre site includes two recently renovated multi-purpose athletic fields with state-of-the-art athletic lighting and playing surface.
